PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES

General Information : Pressure Relief Valve is a safety element of the transformer employs to prevent heavy damages of the tank in the case of sudden rise of the internal pressure. These Valve have been designed in order to remove the excess pressure in a very short time as soon as the pressure in the tank rises above predetermined safe limit the valve operates and allow the pressure to drip instantaneously, it avoids damage to transformer body.

 Operating : The PRV’s port is sealed with viton ‘O’ ring and sealing cap, kept sealed by stainless steel rod & stainless steel spring. The sealing cap is exposed to tank pressure, whenever same pressure rises due to any reason, the same pressure acts on the sealing cap from inside. When pressure rises above predetermined safe limit, the sealing cap gets lifted from its seat. This lifting is instantaneous and allows vapors, gases or liquid to come out of tank. The sealing cap regains its position as soon as pressure in the tank drop below the set limit.

Model S-3

S-3 & S-16 is provided with weather proof IP 67 limit switch with lever, visible mechanical indicator & rain guard. The visible indicator shows Normal (Green) / Abnormal (red) condition of transformer. The switch & visible indicator is actuated by movement of sealing cap and switch to be reset manually, it automatically resets visible indicator. All PRV is provided with splash guard and drain plug to prevent oil to splash all over the transformer, and a safe passage to splashed oil when PRV operates 

Main Characteristics

Routine Test: All PRV’s are checked for leakage test by compressed air with required pressure and sealed before dispatched, test certificate accompany consignment.

Installation: Tank cover or side to be provided with necessary tapped hole for mounting of PRV Vertically / horizontally as per mounting detail.
